Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor quality. Used it maybe 4 times. Has been in the shop twice. Disappointed in this saw. Has spent as much time at the repair shop as it has been in Use.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Has decent power and is lightweight. After cutting 12 cords a year for 7 years my faithful, easy start, fuel efficient, Echo 400 finally developed an issue. My hubby bought me a new saw. The Shihl 251 is very hard to start. One just about wears themselves out just starting the thing. After much researching on the web I found a method that does work 1 pull at full choke, 2 at half and the rest at run. I feel its not dependable due being hard to start. Not fuel efficient at all. Cut down 2 medium sized lodge pole trees and started cutting one into blocks and it was time for a refill. With the Echo I would have both of the trees cut down AND into blocks before needing a refill.Chain constantly needs tension adjusted. Chain tension gets too tight or too loose. We waste a lot of time fiddling around with adjusting. Bar get very hot due to I feel inefficient oiling. I will be taking this saw back to dealer. Those toolless caps..... I have nothing nice to say. Very hard to make sure they are on just right. We've spilled a fair amount of oil and gas over ourselves and the ground :( Stihl need to go back to the normal screw on caps but with the folding thing on the cap.Overall, if we didn't have these issues and once the saw is running its a great lightweight saw that's got enough power. The anti vibration is great as is size. I'd really love this saw minus the issues listed. We've cut about 2+ cord so far with the saw.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent saw for the price I have a farm and wanted a saw that is light to use for trimming back trees along fence rows. This saw fits this need like a well tailored suit. I use ethanol free 89 octane gas with Stihl ultra 2 cycle oil and Sea Foam. It starts great and has plenty of power. Easy on gas. Some of the bad reviews on this saw I think are operator error such as cheap, dirty, or old gas.If you use cheap gas you need to use a good additive to keep gas from going bad. Some are do to exceeded expectations of what the saw was designed for like, you want a light saw with big fuel capacity, but more gas adds more weight or your cutting trees that you need a bigger saw for. Another issue is not following the starting procedure. I also have a outdoor wood burner. In 2014 I bought a Stihl ms 311 it's been an excellent saw also.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Starts Everytime Have been using the Wood Boss for a few weeks now clearing down trees on our property. Clearing process includes a lot of repeated starting, making a few cuts and then stopping. Saw is always ready to go, starts on the first pull and powers easily through the cuts. Very happy with the saw's performance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value for the cost. I purchased the Wood Boss for my 9 acre property that is overgrown with brush and trees. I wanted something a little more professional but the price difference was too much for my budget. I settled for the smaller cutting bar and engine displacement that I could afford. I did purchase a more aggressive chain to try out (have yet to install it) for quicker cuts. The chain that it comes with is too tiny for my liking but the cuts just fine if you keep it sharpened. I did have the bar fall off while I was using it but I am sure that is due to the dealer not tightening the nut after the chain tension was adjusted. I would prefer 2 nuts to hold the bar tight but I believe that is only available on the high end chainsaws with a longer bar. I does use bar oil rather quickly and I find myself filling the bar oil more than other chainsaws I have used in the past. It does tend to pack wood chips in the chain guard from the bar oil but nothing that effects the performance of the chain cutting.I have used it to cut a wide range of different types of wood with no issues. I rarely run the throttle wide open and it cuts just fine with no clutch slipping or engine bog. I did rate the power as average but for the size of the chainsaw and its small bar I think that it should have more power when you are cutting larger timber and using the full length of the bar.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great little part time saw This saw is great for using part time around the house. but when its time to put in work it falls short. Fuel tank seems to be pretty small. about 30 minutes of use then it is time to fill up and swap that itty bitty chain out for a fresh grind. During the time it is cutting it is an awesome little saw. light and strong. I just expected too much out of this little guy.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Stihl Wood Boss Oil pump was faulty right off the bat. Chain brake broke as well. Stihl has horrible customer service. Atleast the guys at my ACE were great to work with. I bought a farm boss and this thing is WAAAAAAY better. Spend the extra 50$ and buy commercial or industrial grade, then you’ll get an actual stihl.
